Data Visualization Poster:
MD Public School Demographics

This academic poster shows how I can adapt my writing, design, and data visualization skills for complex topics, while utilizing tools like R, Microsoft Excel, & Adobe Illustrator.

When presenting my argument, I needed to include enough text to detail my data analysis and findings.

I chose a more formal layout than I would use for an infographic to develop an obvious reading order. I added numbered sections while still paying attention to visual hierarchies and spacing.

In this case, as I was analyzing racial segregation with data from over 1,400 Maryland public schools, I needed to present analyses of racial demographics as well as their correlation with other metrics, like poverty, school performance, and geographic distribution.

This poster demonstrates how I present information & usability principles to maximize data visualization techniques when the context and audience call for more complicated data analysis.
