Technical Description: Medical Device
I prepared this technical description document for a wireless blood pressure monitor based on standard style and format conventions of the genre.
The description documents the parts and functions of the device, including the ability to sync the monitor with its corresponding mobile app.
Writing with a consumer audience in mind, I matched the organization, visual elements, and writing style to my audience’s information needs and maximized readability. I chunked information into small, readable paragraphs and references visuals throughout.
On the first page, I explicitly detailed the main functions and features of the device. Then, on pages 3 and 4, I explained more about the interface and wireless capabilities.
I used both illustrations and product images to clarify how to sit when attaching the pressure cuff to measure blood pressure accurately for a potentially unfamiliar audience.
